Key elements taken from the full plan

Feb 8. Harpenden Votes YES to the Neighbourhood Plan in the REFERENDUM.

22% turnout with 4490 votes.    89.39% YES     10.61%  NO.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW? Chair of the NP steering group, Cllr Brian Ellis, said: “We are delighted that residents voted overwhelmingly in favour of adopting the Harpenden NP. The plan will help us shape future development in the town.

“It is a truly community led document. Prepared by local residents for local residents.”

Now the NP has been adopted, 25 per cent of the Community Infrastructure Levy from new developments in Harpenden will be spent in the town and St Albans district council are obliged to consider the document in all the area’s planning applications.
